Broadway Malyan expands into Argentina and celebrates the completion of their first project.

Terrazas de Mayo, a new shopping center estimated at $29 million, is the first major commercial project completed by global architecture, urbanism, and design firm Broadway Malyan in the Americas, according to Carrefour Argentina's property division. villa

Terrazas de Mayo, located 30 kilometers west of Buenos Aires, Argentina, is a new 130,000 square meter shopping center with 130 stores and a wide variety of brands that has resulted in the development of 1,000 new jobs.

It has a Carrefour hypermarket of 10,900 square meters, a ten-screen Cinemark, a 720 square meter 'Neverland' amusement park, and a 24-lane bowling alley.

A 3,500-square-meter food court with 14 restaurants and food and beverage outlets, some with outdoor terraces for al fresco dining, and 1,600 covered parking spaces are also available at the center.

In collaboration with local partner GDM, Broadway Malyan's specialist retail design experts in Madrid (Spain) and Santiago (Chile) collaborated to create the concept design for the extension of a former shopping mall on the site, to construct the design, and to project manage the scheme.

The natural environment and large trees that surround the center influenced the design concept. It has wide windows, terraces, skylights, and courtyards to blend the exterior and interior environments and provide visitors with a vibrant and engaging experience.

"Our expert design team worked in close collaboration with long-standing client Carrefour to deliver the first shopping centre in Argentina, which is also our practice's first designed project in the Americas - having opened studios in Santiago, Chile, in 2013 and So Paulo, Brazil, in 2011." said Broadway Malyan Director Jorge Ponce Dawson.

Marcelo Rodrguez Cáceres, director of Carrefour's Property Division in Argentina, says, "The centre will contribute to the local community and inject economic dynamism into the region due to its prime position. It is a special project for us because it is our first shopping center in Argentina, and we are confident that it will be a success."

Carrefour's Property Division is a business unit of the Carrefour Group that builds and operates over 900 shopping centers in Asia, Europe, and Latin America, totaling over 4.1 million square meters.
